Home Learning January 11th
Hi everyone! I know this is not the start that we imagined, but we will try to make the best of it. I hope everyone had an enjoyable and restful holiday. Today’s home learning schedule is below. Please make sure to keep all your work to bring to school on our first day back. Sightwords: go through the list of sight words to see what level your child is at. Continue working on that level. Remember there are songs to review each level and also a song for each word on youtube if they get stuck on a word (search Jan Richardson sight word songs) For example this is the Level A review song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qIxhNe5_S0
Some extra ideas to help learn new words: build the work with playdoh, rainbow writing (print the word 5 times with different colored crayons), or print the letters and cut them out and practice building the word and mess it up and build it again.
Reading: go over the five reading strategies on the first page in the reading section “Beginning Reading Strategies”. Then read the first “I Can Read!” page. I also packed a couple books for each child if you’d like some additional reading.
Word Work/Writing: review rhyming this week (rhyming is very important in kindergarten. If your child is still experiencing difficulty with rhyming, please continue to review it each day.
