Home Learning November 2nd

Literacy

Reading

Continue reading to your child or have them listen to a story on https://www.storylineonline.net

Have your child read their books that they have at home. Make sure they are pointing to each word as they say them.

Letters

Play ABC Phonics Song:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKsIi1MH4lw

Continue working on letter Kk (we usually spend 2 days on each letter)

If they did not finish the sheet yesterday, have students practice printing letter Kk on the K sheet that I sent home in the home learning package (please send the completed sheet back to school with your child when we return to school. They each have a printing book where they keep all their sheets which will be sent home at the end of the year).

Draw a picture of something that starts with Kk.

Review letters by playing a couple squiggle park games in the ABC world.

Writing

Practice identifying the beginning sound in words. Draw your favorite animal and write the beginning sound for that animal (for example d for dog, or c for cat).  If that is easy for your child, they can also try to figure out the ending sound.

Complete the making words sheet that was sent home.  Cut out the letters and glue them to the matching word (if you do not have glue, they can just print the letter inside the box).

Sight words

Practice the words in their word wallet. If they have difficulty with a particular word, go to youtube and Jan Richardson and Jack Hartmann have a song for each word.

Subitizing (Student should be able to look at a small set and know how many)

Subitize Up To 5 (soo-bi-tize) | Math Song for Kids | Jack Hartmann - YouTube

Practice by rolling dice and having your child quickly say the amount without counting.

Fewer and More

Have your child roll two dice. Say the amount on each dice and then get them to tell you which one is fewer, and which one is more.
