In Math, we are working on large numbers. Writing them out in words, putting them in order from smallest to largest, place value. We are alaso working on multiplying numbers with 0s like 50 X 60. Ask them to show you the strategy (boites et points).
We are just finishing the respiratory system and starting the circulatory system in Science this week. We may have a test this week. They should be able to explain to you how each system works as we complete each one. We also discussed how somoking negatively impacts the body the lungs.
Their "Wax Museum Projects" in English Language Arts are going very well. Most students will have completed their research portion within a few days. There are several students who have started their trifold boards. There are Bristol boards available at the school if you are unable to pick one up. Let me know! By this Friday, everyone should have started their boards. Feb. 20-21 will be devoted to completing their boards. February 22-23 will be dedicated to memorization for the presentations. The presentations should take place on February 24. I will be inviting parents to come into our classroom from 1-2. Other classes will be invited in the morning of Feb. 24. They will need to have their costumes ready for the day of presentations as well as their "button" to get them to speak!
We currently are finishing up a few art projects: a watercolor mountain picture(we just got new watercolor paints), Valentine's cards for Bridgeview on Thursday, and 3D snowflakes.
I have been assessing students in their reading in French Language Arts. The progress many have made is phenomenal! Having Andree Anne here to support them as well has been great! They will need to continue to work to read at home to achieve R/S/T for the end of year criteria. In writing, we are reviewing verbs in the past tense. They will also be writing a persuasive text to convince me to get a class pet!
