Home-learning Nov 5 (Friday)

Posted: November 4, 2021

Is anyone else drained? If adults are feeling it, then surely the students are too. Today I'm trying to keep students away from the screens as much as possible. But, screens may be more helpful to some homes too. Your pick!

To note: I attached the wrong file to yesterday's email. Therefore, I've included the proper file for yesterday's and then Friday's attachment too. Sorry about that!

Repeat "playlist":

  • Bring back all paper copies when the time comes.
  • Priority activities are the most important, followed by the daily exploratory activity, then the "other" awesome activities.
  • Time is precious. Kids are kids. Do what you can with what you have.
  • Links are on our class website. Mme. Robichaud | King Street Elementary (nbed.nb.ca) and login information is in the back of their agenda.

Here's day 5 (Friday)

*ROCK & ROLL MATH (Friday's activity)* - See pdf. Go outside and gather a BIG pile of rocks. Rocks not popular around your home? Use small sticks/branches instead.

  • Count your rocks.
  • Then skip count! Grade 3: count by 3's and 5's. Grade 4's: count by 3's and 4's.
  • Place your rocks in order from largest/longest to smallest.
  • Place them end to end. Find an object that's approximately the same length.
  • Divide your rocks in two piles (half). Then divide then into four equal piles (fourths).
  • Create a pattern with your rocks.
  • Make a creative design using only your rocks. A picture? A mandala? Your pick! Take a picture to share your design with me.
  • If each rock was worth 10 dollars, how much are your rocks worth? What about 10 cents?
*NINJA MATH (Thursday's activity)* - Please see the attached PDF for some fun Math problems. Don't forget the link at the bottom. Number Ninja - Multiples • ABCya! Grade 3's please concentrate on multiples of 2, 5 & 10. Grade 4: please concentrate on all except 12.

*WORD WORK* – The page in their pack with "Prénom" at the top. It's a fill in the blank for them to complete. Please return this page to school.

*FRENCH READING* - Reading comprehension to bring back to school. There are four ladies standing. They read the description and figure out which one is which.

*Pepper magic* - Take a pie plate and fill the bottom with water. Shake some pepper on top of the water. It will float. Place a drop of dish detergent on the tip of a Q-tip and lightly touch the Q-tip/soap in the middle of the pie plate. What happens? Can you make the pepper run away?
