Notes

Good Morning,

Today in your Home Learning Packet, you can skip a few pages and start working on the literacy activity called "Missing Middle Sounds". Today's math activity is called "Color by Sum Game", which you don't have to play with anybody. You can simply roll two dice, add the two numbers togethers, and then color the space that matches the sum. There will be NO writing actvity for today. For a math game, you can play "Doubles Bingo" or "Egg Head".

If you wish, you can complete the few pages we skipped over whenever you want. These pages are called, "Ending Sounds Set 5", "What Comes Before?", and "Draw a Cow and Write!"

As always, remember to try and read your levelled books each day, as well as review your sight words and try to complete an activity on your January Reading Bingo sheet. Please make sure you keep track of your books, so you can return them to school when we are back together in person, as these books belong to the school.

Happy Friday Grade 1 Lions and have a fabulous weekend :)

Remember to try and read your levelled books each day, as well as review your sight words and try to complete an activity on your January Reading Bingo sheet. Good Morning Grade 1 Lions,

We hope your first day of Home Learning went well yesterday and that you are well rested for a new day of learning today.

If you are not able to pick up your Home Learning Packet by 12pm today, we will deliver it to your house this afternoon. We will leave it on your doorstep.

In the Home Learning Packet, if you look at the Daily Routine, there will be a worksheet to go along with each part of the Daily Schedule. So each day your child will be completeting 1 literacy page, 1 math page, and 1 writing page (Monday to Thursday). There is only a new math game included on Mondays and Wednesdays, so students can choose one of those two games to play on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Have a great day :)

It is very important that students continue to read daily. We have attached instructions on how to login to Epic Books below, which will allow students to read books every day. There is a catch, this program is only available to students until 3pm. Books have been assigned to your child at their reading level and you will notice that some books have a quiz at the end to check their comprehension. If there is not a quiz at the end of the book, then you could ask your child some comprehension questions (see sample comprehension questions in the front of your child's yellow literacy duotang that was sent home in September).

If you do not have the supplies (pencil, crayons, scissors, glue, technology etc) at home to complete any of the assigned tasks on our teach page or  in your Grade 1 Home Learning Package, please email Ms. Hallihan or Mrs. Schofield and we will be sure to get the necessary supplies to you.

This is just a reminder that our class will be going skating on Thursday, October 21st.

A form was sent home to be filled out if your child will need a helmet and skates. If your child does need any of these items, please be sure to fill out the form and return it to us. You may also write a note specifying your child's name, whether they need a helmet and/or skates, and what size for each, if you misplaced the form.

We are going to have so much fun skating!
