Hi everyone,

I'm adding a document with usernames and passwords for a math app called sumdog to the files section of MS Teams. I'll be adding others, as well. Although it is in English, I feel it is a good option. It will do a diagnostic to find your child's level and adapts to their learning levels. They can also play against classmates :)

Hi everyone :)

For now, I will be popping on MS Teams in the mornings at 9:30am. This will consist of our morning routine (message of the week, inferencing practice and discussion, and a review of a math skill). I have been placing lots of files in the MS Teams group, so please go there to find new content. If this lasts more than a week, we will have to re-evaluate how we do things and start introducing more new content to the mix. I don't want them to fall behind! ALL materials will be recorded for them to listen. While this takes me a tremendous amount of time, I recognize that it is just not feasible for everyone to be online every day for lessons and I don't think they should miss out because of it.

I would like to see your child doing 90 minutes of work per day. What that looks like is completely up to you. Joining my morning meeting is not mandatory, everything will also be placed in the files so that your child can do these activities independently, but I strongly encourage them to join me for the oral input. I will be available for questions via email or through MS Teams most of the day, while I work away on creating content to add and coming up with more activities that can be supported by online learning.

Don't forget to check Mrs. Comeau and Mr. Williston's pages for possible activities to do at home. I am not sure what they plan to add, but you might find some ideas there, too!

All my love,

Mme Sharpe

Hi everyone,

Tomorrow morning I will be logged into MS teams at 9:30am to do our daily morning routine with the students, consisting of our message of the week, inferencing work, and a bit of a discussion/writing challenge. I will also explain some of the additional math work I will be adding to the MS teams files dropbox. I look forward to seeing all students who can attend. (I will also have 2 copilots, so we will see how it goes :P )

More information and content will be coming tomorrow, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I would be online for anyone who is able to get online with me.

Keep checking the teacher page for more updates throughout the week. Feel free to email me if you have any concerns or questions.

Mme Sharpe

Hi everyone!

Tomorrow, I will be hopping on to MS teams several times during the day. In order to login to the meeting, students will need the username and password that I sent home in emails or texts yesterday. They will use the username PLUS THE ADDITION OF @nbss.nbed.nb.ca in order to gain access. I suggest that you try logging in to the group before the first session tomorrow if you/they wish to join.

This is not mandatory. I REPEAT, NOT MANDATORY. I do not want to add any more stress to your lives. Students can join any, all or none of the meetings, depending on their ability to get online, where they are at mentally, etc.

I hope that we will be returning to in-person teaching for MOST students on Monday, and I *MAY* even open a teams meeting throughout the day for students who are absent due to isolation (I will update once we know more about what next week will bring).

It's going to look like this..

9:30- Microsoft teams meeting (30 minutes) Orale

Have students share with everyone their last few days at home and play a round or two of scattergories together.

11:00- Microsoft teams meeting (20-30 minutes) Écriture libre

Students will be given 3 or 4 words and they will have 5 or 6 minutes to create a little mini story with the vocabulary. They can then share them with the rest of the students.

1:00- Microsoft teams meeting (15-20 minutes) Math activity

Get students to try to answer some open-ended questions and have a discussion.

2:00- Microsoft teams meeting (30 minutes) Art

Students can come learn to draw with me. All they will need is a pencil and a piece of paper!

I am in professional learning sessions all day today, but please reach out if you have any questions about MS teams, this schedule, or any of the other tasks and work that have been provided. I will do my best to reply to you as quickly as possible. I hope that you are all staying safe and sane and I hope to see as many of you as possible on tomorrow's chats!

With love,

Mme Sharpe

Hi everyone! I am in the middle of setting up Microsoft teams for the students. I will likely not be using it this week unless home learning is extended (let's all cross our fingers, toes and eyes that it isn't the case) but I am going to be sending you an email or text with student login information, and will be updating you should home learning be extended. I am still trying to figure out how to use it, to be honest!

You should receive an email or text from me today with that information; I am going to try my best to get it to all of you by the time I leave this afternoon :)

Good morning parents, guardians and students,

In light of the school closure and home learning that is taking place over the next three days, students are expected to be working from home. I will be posting several videos, a PowerPoint and some additional materials to supplement their home learning packets.

Students should work for a minimum of 30 minutes in Math, Language and wellness EACH DAY. In addition to the material provided to you for home learning, I am adding a math challenge that will get your child outside. I will be uploading some content for the message of the week that can count toward French minutes. I will be adding a PowerPoint that I would like students to use one of the days of home learning. This PP goes with the new theme we are supposed to be learning this week and we will review it once we return to the classroom.

Please see my note from last Wednesday for more ideas of things that can be done. I will likely be signing them up for sumdog.com if my login information for Zorbit does not arrive soon. This is a math website in English, but it is adaptive to their learning levels and will challenge them based on their needs/abilities.

Please reach out to me if I can help you in any way. I am at the school all day, so you can call, text or email me and I will do my best to support you throughout all of this.

Also know that I miss the students terribly, so if you send me videos or photos of them today, and every day of home learning, I would much appreciate it! Keep checking back for more content and don't forget to take care of your mental health, as well.

With love,

Mme Sharpe

I am grateful for all of you, for the opportunity to live and work in this community on unceeded Mi'kmaq territory and for the opportunity to teach in these unprecedented times. From my family to yours, enjoy your time with your family.

Good morning parents/guardians and students,

I am saddened to be writing this message today, and I hope that you are all safe and well. In light of the positive case at KSE and the operational day, we will have to dig into those operational packs.

It's like this: ideally, I'd like students to work on Math for 30 minutes, French for 30 minutes, and spend the rest of their time working on wellness. We are all very likely stressed and anxious about what is happening. For me, it's mental health first. You cannot focus on work when you are in a spiral. Start your morning with something calming. Grab a hot beverage, open up a yoga video on YouTube, and do it with your child. Take them on a short walk around the neighbourhood and talk. Watch a funny show on Netflix. Play a board game, or a video game. Try to relax your body and your mind.

Math can consist of the worksheets I sent home, baking (make them do the measuring!), helping with your budget... get creative. Cap it at 30 minutes if they're doing worksheets. I will add some videos for subtraction with regrouping in the traditional method and will be working on making some in French using this method and others. Students can use whatever method is best for them.

French can include reading in French (they should have a library book handy), listening to songs or videos in French, talking with a sibling or adult in French, writing a creative story... It doesn't have to be limited to comprehension worksheets.

If you have any questions, please reach out to me via text or email and I will try to get back to you as quickly as possible. In the interest of transparency and honesty, I have requested a covid test out of an abundance of caution, so I will be unavailable while I am being tested this morning. I do not believe that I have Covid, but I also have your children and my own to protect. I will update you when I get my results (I am asymptomatic, just to be clear).

Please know that the priority for you and your child today is to keep your sanity and minimize your anxiety. I am sending all of my love and compassion to every one of you.

Mme Sharpe

Hi everyone! I've been trying to accept parent requests as they come in but there is a glitch in the system. I will send home student codes and hopefully that will allow me to connect with you all. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Welcome everyone! I have finally gained access to the teacher page. I am adding some information to this document so that you may refer to it and may edit it as necessary. Please check the teacher page on Mondays for homework posted for the week.

I hope that your child has been enjoying the school year so far. I am really loving having them all in my class.

Just a little note...

I do not add parents to my personal Facebook for privacy reasons. I hope that this does not offend anyone. If you have sent me a request, please know that it is nothing personal that I have not accepted your request. If you wish to reach me, please send me an email or call the school and leave me a message. For those who prefer to reach me via text message, please be aware that I may not respond to you after 5pm as this is my time to spend with my two girls and my husband :) The private Facebook group will likely be operational by the end of the week- this will be a supplementation to this teacher page, so please continue to check here for important information.

I'm really looking forward to spending this school year with your child :)
