Hello boys and girls!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and did something extra special for your Moms. My two girls made me beautiful home-made cards!  This week we are continuing with Multipliction in Math.  There are two printable worksheets and a multiplication times table chart to help you practice too. I want you to know how proud I am of your hard work at home. Don't forget to get outside for some fresh air and exercise. Also you can send me photos of your work or of you working at any time. I'd love to see what you have been up to.

Have a great week!

Hi boys and girls!

I sure hope that you had a great weekend. The weather is getting nicer so I hope that you are spending some time outdoors. It is awesome to see all the progress that you are making on the Math and Reading websites. I can see the progress you make each week.

I also got a few photos of some of your doing your home learning or of what you have been up to at home.  I will post them a bit later in the week. If you want to send me a photo...it's not too late!

This week we will begin to work with multiplictation.  Just try your best!

Take care and have fun learning,

Mrs. MacDonald

The weather is changing and Spring has arrived which is causing the snow to melt.

Task:  Find a spot outside in the snow. Each day measure how deep the snow is using a centimeter ruler and keep track of the date, the measurement and weather using a chart. Try to measure it 5 times on different days.  This is an ongoing project...so tune in next week to see what to do with your data!

Watch this short video on how to use a ruler.  (I will put it in the weblink section too)

https://www.gscs.ca/studentsandfamilies/schools/PAU/PublishingImages/Pag...

*** If you don’t have a ruler or measuring tape at home, use a stick, mark it and then, remember that a good referent for 1 centimeter is the width of your little finger. After you mark how deep the snow is, use your little finger to see “about” how deep it is.

*** Check out the image gallery to see an example of my measurement.

Hello boys and girls

Here is the login information that you will need to use this reading site. I never had the chance to get this onto my page yesterday due to all the glitches with the system. This site offeres several leveled books for reading.  I have assigned you a set of levelled books that I feel will be a good fit for you. However, if you find the books too hard or too easy please have your parents let me know via my email and I can adjust this for you.  Also, do not pay too much attention to the level letter as they are not always match the levels that we use in school.

Login Steps:

Step 1:   use the weblink or type in  www.kidsa-z.com

Step 2:   enter or choose my teacher username     Gr3macdonald

Step 3:   choose your name and click on it

Step 4:  enter your password     King1

For this week I just ask you to get familiar with the site and enjoy some books. Beginning next week I will begin to assign you a book to read with some questions to answer.

Happy Reading!!!

Reading:  I know you all love books! So try to read each day for about 10-15 mins., either aloud or silently. If you do not have books at at home that are at your reading level, maybe someone at home can read aloud to you and you can help by reading some of the words that you do know!

Math:  Check out this new webiste:   iknowit.com  I have set up our classroom so that you can work on math concepts each day. It is very similar to the site "Splash Learn" that we used in our classroom.

To begin:  go to iknowit.com (also in weblinks on this page)
  click on   login
  Choose:   student
  Class code:   gr3king
  Username:  your first name
  Password:    King1

There will be assignments for you to do each week. Remember you don't have to complete everything in one day. You may need to use a pencil and paper to do some of the calculations, especially for adding and subtracting. These assignments are geared to your learning ability. If they are too difficult, a parent can contact me using my school email listed above.

Writing:
I'd really love to hear what you have been up to over the past few weeks.  So for your first writing activity I'd like you to write me a letter. Do you remember all the parts of the letter...date, greeting (Dear,  ), the body (message), the closing (From, ) and the signature?  In this letter, let me know what you have been doing to keep busy. Don't forget to add details and watch for your capital letters and punctuation marks. If you want your parents can email a photo of your letter so I get to read it!!

In the documents section on this page, I have placed the sight word spelling chart that you used in the classroom and had in your writing binders.

Hello boys and girls!
I hope you have all been doing well at home over the past few weeks. Wow...I never thought we'd go home for a snow day and not see each other for awhile! I know that you are probably all keeping busy at home with your families and I can't wait to hear all about what you have been up to. This week I  will begin a very new way of teaching you...using my Teacher Page.
Each Monday I will post some new activities for you to do in Math, Writing, Reading, and Science for the week. At first we will just review what we have learned so far and then we'll try learning some new concepts.  I know this is all different and new but it is also very new for me too! So I just want you to try do your best, and that's what I'll be doing too!
You are all such awesome students and I know that we can all do this together! I miss all of you and I really can't wait to see each other again! In the meantime...take care, help out at home, smile and have fun with your new way of learning!
If your parent has any questions or concerns, they can reach me using my work email:
kelly.macdonald2@nbed.nb.ca
Take care and I miss you all,
Mrs. MacDonald
