Good morning boys and girls!

Today is Friday.  We will use today as a "catch up" day to finish up any lessons you may not have had the chance to complete.  Remember the math website and reading websites are still there with lots of activities to do as well.

Also take a look at Mr. Williston's webpage for Phys. Ed. activities that might be fun to try. Mrs. Comeau also has a webpage for Music.

Have a good day learning at home today and a fantastic weekend!

Good morning everyone!

I hope you all had a great day yesterday. I missing seeing you each day.  I have run into one or two of you in town or at the hockey rink. Hopefully we are all back together soon.

Just a reminder that there is no Home Learning tomorrow as it is Remembrance Day.

Mrs. Comeau (Music Teacher) has asked me to mention that there are two videos on the KSE homepage. They are the King St. Remembrance Day ceremony from last year and the slide show with pictures of veterans and our students that has been updated this year. I hope you get a chance to watch these.

Enjoy your day!

Hello everyone!

It's a frosty morning outside today. What other words can you use to describe the what it is like outside this morning?  These words are called adjectives.

I hope you all had a good day yesterday and were able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful fall weather we are having.

I have set up an online reading website for all of you to check out. The link is in the document below. It has a large assortment of books...fiction, non-fiction, comics etc.  There are also leveled books at your own reading level. I hope you enjoy exploring the books on this website.

Have a great day!

Good morning everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! The weather was beautiful to get outside to play or do some yard work. Well it looks like we are beginning another week of home learning.  We will continue with the same format as last week. I will be adding new assignments onto Splash Learn and other websites.

Let's just try our best and do what we can do!  Remember it is important to get outside and play. Also playing board games or puzzles and doing crafts and lego are good activities too.

Have a great day!

Good morning everyone!

Today is Wednesday and I am so proud of all the hard work that you are doing at home. I know it is not easy but I can see that you are trying your best.

Here are a few more activities to work on today in the Document below.  Did any of you try the STEM activity?  If you did I'd love to see a picture. Just email it to me.  I put a Science activity  on today under the Co-curricular part.  We would have been beginning Science this past week by learning how to make observations, ask questions and make diagrams.

It's supposed to be another sunny day again...get outside for some fresh air and exercise if you can!

Have a great day! I miss seeing you each day.

Good morning! It's Friday and it's our last day of learning from home for this week.  For today you can continue to explore the SplashLearn activities, choose a book or two to listen to on Tumblebooks, and try some of the following:

Math:  "Mystery Number of the Day"...Use the clues to find out how many pumpkins were growing in the farmer's field:

                   It is more than 200.

                   It is less than 300.

                   It is an odd number.

If you start at 7 and count by 10s you will say this number.

The sum of the digits is 14.

More skip counting practice.  Complete the pattern with the next 5 numbers.

75   85   95   _____   _____  ______   ______  ______

214  224  234  _____   _____   _____  ______  ______

452  442  432  _____  ______  _____ ______ _______

2  102  202  ______ ______  ______  _______ ______

337  327   317   ______ _____ ______ _____ ______

Reading:  Read or listen to a story.  Think about your favorite part and what you liked about the story.  Would you reccommend it to a friend?

Writing: Use your imagination and write some sentences about the following:  Would you rather travel into outer space or to the bottom of ocean?  Why?  What would you do when you got there?  What would you like to see/learn?

Have a great weekend! If you have any questions or concerns you can email me. I also created a group email where I can easily update you on what is happening in our class.

Thank you for your help and support with learning from home this week.

Hello everyone!

It's a wet rainy morning but hopefully the sun will come out again soon! I hope that you are all trying to do some reading, writing and math while at home this week.  Here are a few activities for today:

Math:  1.  Spash Learn website (I will be giving an assignment today.)

          2.  www.mathplayground.com has some games to practice math facts

          3.  Let's continue practicing skip counting:

Start at  75 and skip count forwards by  10s  to 270

Start at   256  and skip count backwards by 10s to 56

Start at  0  and skip count by 100s to 1000

Start at  45 and skip count by 100s

Start at  50 and skip count by 5s to 200

            4.   How many 3-digit numbers can you make using only these 3  numbers?     5      1       3

Reading: Read aloud to someone or to yourself or listen to someone read to you.  While reading think about the setting, the characters, the problem faced by the character and the solution.  If you are reading a non-fiction book, think of 3 new facts you learned while reading.

The tumblebooks website is also a good choice.

Writing: The following are suggested activities.

1.       Describe what Your Best Day Ever would look like. Where would you go? What would you do? Who would be with you?

2.     Make a list of all the places that you have travelled or visited in our province, other provinces or even other countries.

Take care,

Mrs. MacDonald

Good morning everyone!

I hope you had a good day at home learning in our new way for these couple of days. I was pleased to see several of you had logged onto Splash Learn and did some math activities yesterday.  Great work!!

For today you can choose a different writing/math sheet from the packet if you haven't already completed them and/or go online to do some Splash Learn activities or you can choose the following:

WorkWork/Writing:    Print the letters of alphabet down your page. Now next to each letter try to think of a word that begins with each letter for something you can find around your house (inside or outside).

Reading:  Read aloud to someone or to yourself for 15 mins. Try to make predictions as to what might happen next while you read.  If you have no books at your level, you can listen to someone read aloud to you.

I have also put the weblink for Tumblebooks on my teacher page just below this message.

Math:

1.   Create a chart:   Even Numbers     Odd Numbers

Now place these numbers under the correct heading:    23   328    266    129   431   66    284    437

2. Review ways to show a number...for each number in standard form show how it can be made in written form, expanded form, and by drawing the base ten blocks.

              266           321        175          98

3.  Skip count backwards by 10s starting at  96

Skip count backwards by 10s starting at  178

Don't forget you can check out Splash learn again too!

I hope you all have a great day.

Good morning boys and girls!

I hope you are all well and had a nice Thanksgiving Weekend. It looks like we won't be at school until possibly Friday of this week. I will be posting each morning here on my teacher page with different activities you can do while you are at home.

It is important to do a little bit of reading, writing and math each day. In the packet that I sent home last month there are a few different activities for each of the subject areas.  You can pick one from each and do that for today.  I understand that you do not have levelled books at home but reading something from home or having someone read to you works as well.

For math you can go on www.splashlearn.com    our class code is SNTXCE   passwordmemo34

If you have already completed the activities in the packet you can do the following:

* Write a recount (something you did) from your long weekend...having a turky dinner, playing outside with friends, hockey practice etc.

* Read and think about the characters, setting, problem and solution.

* Skip counting practice by 10s from different starting points....start at 4, start at  67,  start at 243

* Show these numbers in written form,  expanded form, and with base ten blocks:   156    431    278

It's supposed to be a beautiful day outside... try to get outside to play.

Have a great day and I will leave a message here again tomorrow!

Hi everyone!

I want to apologize for getting the Home Learning up so late but I was having technical difficulties getting onto the school website. So glad this happened the last week and not earlier.  Yes, this is the last week of school!!  I want to say again how proud I am of your hard work at home. I also want to say that you are all such an amazing group of students and I have really enjoyed having you all in my class this year. It's too bad our year got cut short.  I want all of you to have a fun and safe summer!! Maybe I will see you somewhere sometime over the summer holidays.  If not I hope to see you all here at King St. School in the fall.

Have a great week and an awesome summer!!

Hi everyone!

Wow, what a hot week we had last week!! It feels like summer is nearby!

I want to say again how proud I am of your hard work over the last two months of home learning and it is soon coming to an end. I am going to be working from the school this week. It is going to be so different being in our classroom without all of you with me! I sure do wish that we could have had a different end to our school year.  I really enjoy getting all the photos and messages that some of you have sent me!  I miss all of you!

Let's have another awesome week of learning from home! Don't forget to get outside too!
