Hi folks! A note was sent home yesterday (Sept 30th) on reading levels in both French and English. Students are continuously amazing me at how fast they're progressing. It's AWESOME! New sight words will be sent home accordingly. If you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to shout out.

Homework shouldn't be a negative experience. Keep it light and short. :) Here is what we are looking for in our class:

  • Guided Reading Books: please read their book ONCE each night M-Th. Don't forget to bring it back! New French books are given on Monday and new English books are given on Thursdays.
  • Review Sight words: use playdough, funny voice apps, make them read them to their grandparent over the phone/facetime, have them correct you. Read them all once a week for review or daily if struggling.
  • Math game: A new game each week!
  • Work to finish: at times students may have work to finish up from class (Math questions, pages to colour etc.). These are only sent home after ample time is given in class to have them completed.

Silent X is a bit trickier because it isn't always so silent. Here is the other half of the class with their song about the letter/sound X.

This week we've been looking at silent letters and their exceptions. Here's a song composed and performed by half the class on Silent H.

We are reviewing & learning sounds, orange shirt day, word work, bus evacuation training, Terry Fox walk, sunflower artwork, hallway displays, math textbook work and more. Phew! That's a lot of learning!

We went for an art walk around Chatham - saw the library mural, Mandela mural at Creative Grounds, gave thank you cards to houses that make our house beautiful and picked up leaves and acorns for next week's art project. Have a great sleep!

Lost tooth, math centres, talented musicians - a quick glimpse into our world.

Our class made a song using as many z sounds as possible (remember that in French the letter s between two vowels makes the sound z too). Awesome accompaniment from Cameron on the piano!
