Writing

Draw a picture of their Halloween costume or their favorite treat.  Have your child add labels to their picture or if they a ready, a simple sentence at the bottom (example: I am a dragon or I like candy). Please do not spell the words for them. Help them spell by saying the word slowly and recording any letters they hear. In Kindergarten words do not have to be spelled correctly. We want them to become independent. They just record what they hear when they say the word (if sounding out candy, they may only hear cnde). Simply getting the beginning letter is great for this time of the year.  They can use their word wallet to help spell any sight words they have in their sentence.

Sight words
