It's FRIDAY!

I hope that you have worked hard all week in your learning packet. Remember that you can email me at any time. (nancy.hambrook@nbed.nb.ca

Today, start your day by listening to this book:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0a2MR48f6M and then in your notebook, tell me which day is your favorite and why. (My favorite day is Friday because I usually get to go out to supper with my family or we take supper home. I can stay up late on Friday because I can sleep in on Saturday. I find Friday I am more relaxed and I seem to have more fun. It is funny how a day can make you feel different!)

Today, read one of the levelled books in your bag and then write 3 sentences telling me what part is your favorite. Then draw a picture to go with it.

For math today watch these videos and practcie skip counting, these will get you warmed up, but remember, in grade 3, we skip count to at least 1000!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCxvNtrcDIs

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wwydguSKOU

You should practice going on from 100-1000.

Remember that you can go on to Splashlearn. Let me know when you want more lessons. I am not adding anything until people finsih the assignments given.

I also hope that you got to try Epic books.

I am leaving this step by step drawing if you want to give that a try. I thought maybe we could draw "Kevin" today!

If you do, please bring it when we come back to school. And rememebr, all of your completed work should come back to school with you.

Have a great weekend!

Hello again!

Please continue to work through the learning packet.

Begin by listening to https://storylineonline.net/books/when-a-dragon-moves-in/

In your notebook you can write a paragraph of 4-5 sentences about what you think it would be like to have a dragon move in to your house or your neighborhood.

Please complete a reading comprehension sheet for reading and then move on to another noun sheet today. Here is a reminder of what nouns are!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDMk0XrQvV4

Remember to try and get some physical education and movement. It is nicer out today. Maybe you could go out for a bit, or check out Ms. McFarlanes page for some ideas to get your body and brain moving.

For math, keep working on adding with regrouping and not regrouping. These may help:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPsYRPdlIpU

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcOK7pGri1c

You may want to complete a sheet on money as well. Here is a review of the money names.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmBUy3vhTdg

This is a money game:

https://www.practicalmoneyskills.ca/games/peterpigs/peterpigs.php

Don't forget that you can go on Splashlearn or Epic books at any time.

Have a good day. I sure hope to see you soon!!

After the sheet, you could try this game and see if you can pick out the nouns in each sentence.

https://www.ixl.com/ela/grade-2/identify-nouns

For math, work on adding two digit numbers. The following video demonstrates and will review the process with you.

https://www.khanacademy.org/math/cc-2nd-grade-math/cc-2nd-add-subtract-1...

Good morning to you!

Happy New Year!

Begin your day by watching the following video and then coloring and completing your 2022 resolution page. Decide and write what your resolution will be for 2022, what is something that you want to try, the best part of the year 2021 and then draw a quick snapshot of yourself today in 2022. make it beautiful! Here is the link to get your mind flowing:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Qu3FC9B-lE

Work through your learning packet as you wish. (If you didn't pick your packet up, you can come anytime and get it. They are at Door B) You need to read, write and complete math for about 90 minutes each day at least.

You could try and write a letter in your notebook from your last packet that is a letter of thanks for something that you got for Christmas! You should use the proper way to write a letter as we learned in class. In your letter you should write why you are thankful, why you liked the gift, what is it and what does it do or look like or even sound like?

It's cold outside today! Try and do some inside movements for a bit today and get your body and brain moving. I have left this link called "freeze" dance, which is apppropriate for today. Give it a try!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UcZWXvgMZE

Don't forget to work through all of those Splashlearn assignments if you can. Also, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. please go ahead and try:

Good Morning!

Today's Santa Beard Challenge is: Draw or write someone a nice note. Remember that yesterday's challenge was to thank someone for being kind to you. Tomorrow when we are back together we will cut those beards. Work hard to do those challenges today. Kindness to eachother is a very important thing.

ONLY 10 MORE DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!

For Literacy

Start today by listening to the book, "Feliz Navidog" from the link below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF3c4kKOqog

When you are finished watching, use your home learning notebook or a piece of paper to draw and then write a sentence to tell me what your favorite part of this book is. After that, draw and tell me what your least favorite part of this book was.

Next, work on telling me how many syllables are in each one of these Christmas words.

Bells, candy, poinsettia, Christmas, tree, December, decorations, holiday, gingerbread, reindeer, elf, stocking, Santa, lights, presents, merry, jingle, family, eggnog, ornaments, fruitcake, carol, mistletoe, celebration, bow, tradition, card, wreath, hope, toys.

For Math:

You can sign in to Splashlearn and complete the teacher assigned tasks first,

Next, please work on skip counting to warm up. Count by 2's from 128-200; count by 5's from 305-455; count by 100's from 125-1025.

After that, add the following:  35+65; 48+29; 17+30; 56+71; 92+34; 87+45; 36+14; 77+46

For the afternoon, enjoy some time outside and take in all of the great things to do outside.

Please bring your completed work to school tomorrow. I look forward to seeing you.

Next, please watch the link below, that talks about "synonymns".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pD9KWtpHDDY

3. big

4. giggle

5. little

6. love

7. end

8. one

Hello there everyone!

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day. Please take the time today to watch these two book links below:

Lest We Forget Written by Kerry Brown & Illustrated by Isobel Knowles & Benjamin Portas - YouTube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npeSbERPmRo

After you have listened to those, please use your notebook and write a story about why you wear a poppy. Why is it important? How does it make you feel? Why is it a poppy that we wear? How do you feel on Remembrance Day? I can't wait to read them when we see eachother again.

For math today, I have left 3 sheets for number value. Remember that if you know what numbers are worth, you can do anything with them!

You should also be studying your facts. (adding and subtracting)

Remember that you have all kinds of assignments on Splashlearn to get finished up.

For word work, please write the word "Veteran" in your notebook and then see how many other words and smaller words that you can make using that word. I challenge you to find 7!

You can login to Raz kids from the link yesterday and continue to work on reading. All of those books and activities are levelled and will help you continue to progress in reading. Remember that, "practice makes perfect". Keep practicing that reading.

Remember to get outside and observe what is around you. The weather is changing and soon the ground will be covered in snow. Explore while you can. Your brain needs that nice fresh air and movement.

This afternoon, please listen to the link below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bp5_1p8Y7v4

and then try the step by step drawing to create your own poppy using the following:

How To Draw Poppies - YouTube

Also, if you go to the main page on our King Street Elementary web page, Mrs. Comeau has done a beautiful job of commemorating some of our families veterans. There are two videos. A slideshow and then last years ceremony. Please watch that and honor our fallen veterans, as well as those who still serve.

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day. Please take a silent moment on that day to be thankful for all that served and who still do. I have uploaded a small booklet. You don't have to print it, but you could read through it yourself. It is an easy read and I think you will like it.

Take care.
