Traditionally, at the end of the school year, King Street Elementary celebrates the Grade 5’s by having a Banquet and Awards Ceremony.  This is a way to thank them, acknowledge their accomplishments and wish them luck as they move on to Middle School.

This year, due to the state of the country, there will be changes to the celebrations.  There will not be a banquet but we will celebrate with an Awards Ceremony.  This will take place outside.

The following is an update to the Grade 5 Awards Ceremony for the French Immersion students:

         Date:                 Tuesday, June 16th, 2020.

         Where:              King Street Elementary School

Time:                10:00 am          or              1:30 pm

Note:  The grade 5 FI students were divided into two sessions due to the restrictions of Covid-19.  Please see the attached document for the time of your session.

  • All families are asked to park in the Staff/Visitor parking lot upon arrival.  Please park in every second space to abide by the Covid restrictions.  (Limit 2 cars per family) – Overflow will park in the Soccer field parking lot.
  • Families are asked to remain in their vehicles (family bubbles) until instructions are given.
  • Upon hearing your name, each student will proceed to the entry near the stain glass windows, with their family bubble, receive their awards, go to the backdrop for pictures, drop their painted rock off at the garden, then proceed to their vehicle.
  • Please take note of the 6 feet Social Distancing rules set in place by the province.

Looking forward to seeing everyone,

Mme. Wilt

Ryan was busy on the weekend planting a vegetable garden with his family.  I would love to see pictures of the mature plants and the vegetables they will produce.  A great family activity enjoyed by all!

Good morning Parents, Guardians and Students,

I hope you all had a great weekend even with the change in temperature and weather.

This is the last official week of Home Learning.  The Home Learning Opportunities are posted.  I wanted to remind you that “Je lis…” , the reading site and IXL are open to all students until the end of June.  The audio for “Je lis…” is now up and running.  I will also be making, all books that are available in this program, available to the students until the free trial expires.

Home Learning Opportunities this week are plentiful.  I posted many “other” activities to consider in the areas of French Literacy and Math, English Numeracy, First Nations Education and Social Emotional Learning.  These activities were all prepared by District Office Staff and will be available over the summer on my Teacher Page.  There is no intention to have all activities completed.  They were posted so students have choices.  Remember “Do what you can, when you can”.

Please take note of the information, posted with Home Learning, about the Awards Ceremony, Painting of Rocks and changes with Microsoft Team Meeting this week.

Have a great day!

Mme. Wilt
