Welcome To Our Page

I will be posting a suggested home learning *schedule* for you and your child to help you follow along with the work that has been provided. This will ensure that they complete all of the work assigned to them. I will try to shorten our whole class online meetings to 45 minutes so that students can work independently or in small groups on their assigned tasks.

Due to the current situation with blended home and in-person learning, I will not always be available between 10:25 and 11:55. I will be assisting students with their in-person learning. I will try to respond to any questions, emails, or texts as quickly as possible. I am also available for one-on-one calls in the afternoon, despite working from home. The same conditions might apply and there may be  mild (small, 1 and 5 year old) interruptions.

A complete SUGGESTED schedule for the rest of this week will be posted this afternoon to assist parents who want to work ahead, as well as instructional videos to accompany those lessons. Yesterday, I was unable to produce them as we were trying to schedule and balance this new situation.

*** SUGGESTED LEARNING/WORK FOR WEDNESDAY, JAN. 12***

Math (30 minutes)

  • 1 number of the day
  • ½ sheet of multiplication questions (50 questions)
  • 1 word problem (#2 or #3)

Literacy (30 minutes)

  • Read for 15 minutes (Je lis, reading comprehension or French book)
  • Write for 15 minutes about a topic of your choice

Well-Being (30 minutes)

  • Work for 10 minutes on your Science- what can you do to remain in good health? Look up one thing that you can do and how you would implement it in your day-to-day life. Record it on your sheet
  • Choose a mental health challenge for the day or visit Mr. Williston’s teacher page for physical activity ideas.

Good afternoon,

I am going to be logging on to Teams tomorrow morning at 9:00 A.M. for any students who are able to attend. I am really looking forward to seeing as many (bright and cheery) faces as possible, but please do not stress if you are unable to get logged in.

I am going to be uploading videos here as well as in Teams to accompany the work that is provided. I will try to add as much as possible tomorrow so that you can work at your own pace. I want to make this as independent as possible for your families; I understand the stress that we are all under and want to do as much as possible to support you all through this hurdle. If you think of anything that I can do to help, please reach out to me.

Hi everyone!

Home learning packets are now ready and can be picked up from Door B today until 3 P.M. or tomorrow. I added materials and books for each child. The survey that I sent home said that most parents preferred to have physical copies- If you said you would prefer digital copies emailed to you, could you just send me a quick email at teri.sharpe@nbed.nb.ca so that I can forward those documents to you? I didn't consider that the survey wouldn't allow me to view individual responses (I'll try a different avenue to collect information if ever we find ourselves in this position again!) so I prepared a packet for each child with physical materials.

Let me know if you have questions or concerns!

Good afternoon everyone,

Happy New Year! This isn't the start to the year that we all wanted, but it is the start to the year that we are getting. I am reaching out to you all in an effort to best customize the homes learning for your needs.

If you can take 5 minutes to complete the survey below, I will take time on Monday morning to start assembling home learning packets. As everyone is attempting to prepare packets and the weather is less than desirable, I will require a bit of extra time to make sure that your child gets everything they need. I will notify you all if packets are ready before Tuesday morning. I am sorry for the inconvenience, but I am hopeful that this will help cut down on copies and ensure that your child has an individualized packet for their needs.

I thank you again for all of your support.

Rough plan for the day- There will be no Teams meeting today, but I am available via email and teams should you need any help :)

*** 15-20 minutes of math practice
Multiplication facts would be best, since they will help you with all the other things that are yet to come this term.

*** 15-20 minutes of literacy
Reading, writing or listening to something in French. Check the files for Je Lis and Boukili passwords. I opened a bunch of new books for each student on Je Lis.

Check the assignment tab for a Christmas story read in French with a few multiple choice comprehension questions. THIS IS NOT MANDATORY. I just thought that you might enjoy it. It is told by the same woman that read "La légende du sapin"

*** Wellness and mental health

Please make sure that you do something for yourself today. I know that this is all very disappointing and stressful for everyone. Please do something fun today. Play outside, bake holiday cookies, tag up with friends online, draw, do a craft, do something nice for your parents or grandparents....

Looking forward to doing some fun things with you all tomorrow. Miss and love you all. (and don't worry about unfinished work, it will still be there in January!)

With lots of love,
Mme Sharpe

Good afternoon,

I meant to send home a memo today regarding Secret Santa and the week's events but I forgot!

Since there is no school next week, I would like to do Secret Santa on Friday. Please send your gifts in by Thursday so that I can see who still needs to bring something in (and give gentle reminders!)

Tomorrow, students can wear red and green and come with hungry bellies as everyone will be getting a hot holiday lunch from the cafeteria!

Look for a memo from me tomorrow about the rest of the week :)

Hi everyone! I'm trying to navigate setting up a Facebook group, and having issues adding parents as friends to add to the private group. Can you use this link to send me a friend request? I'll then add you to the private group I created and see how that works :)

Or click this link to view and join the group

Non family who join will be removed from the group (this is only for parents, grandparents and guardians)

Good morning families!

It looks like we are headed for week 3 of home learning. I hope that you are all doing well and that things are going well at home (and I am not just referring to the school work!). I understand that every family circumstance is different- I hope that I am giving you all enough options for home learning without causing you undue stress. Please remember that you can reach out to me at ANY time with questions or requests for support. We are all just doing the best we can given this current situation.

Next week, I am participating in the development of the Grade 5 Math Assessment for the province. This means that I will not be 'available' on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. I will have more information about the supply teacher who will be replacing me on Sunday evening. At the moment, the individual replacing me does not speak French. I will be uploading a video with the morning routine, as well as all of the inferencing work we normally do. He will be available all day via Teams and email (I will post his email on along with a better update for the week). Of course, if there are issues that only I can solve, I am going to be answering emails and questions in the Teams group to the best of my ability during those days, as well. I just might not be available to respond right away :)

Next Friday is a day off for students as teachers prepare report cards and engage in professional learning. Please take that time to take a much deserved break :)

That's all for now :)

On Friday morning at 9:30 a.m., we are going to be doing an inquiry-based science experiment. Please see the attached document for more information. This one is really fun and doesn't require lots of specific supplies for success. I hope you'll join me!

Let me know if you have any questions!
