It's FRIDAY!!!

Listen to this cute book today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=489micE6eHU

This book made me smile. Use the "Favorite Part" sheet out of your learning packet to draw your favorite part and fill in the blanks telling me what your favorite part was and why. I want you to bring all of your sheets back on Monday and I am so excited to see this one in particular.

Today, try and finish anything that you have left as best you can. Please pack it all in your bag and bring it back on Monday! We have lots to do, but I know that we can. Get lots of rest over the weekend and be ready to learn, learn, learn!

I can't wait to see you!

Happy Thursday!

For today, I want you to write me a story. I want you to write me a true story about something that you did yesterday. You see, when something happens to you, whether it is big or small, if you have lived it, you can write about it with feeling. The person reading the story can feel exactly how you were feeling and what was happening while you were experiencing whatever it was. Just a simple story. (a small and focussed moment) Don't forget all of the things a good story needs! Here is my small moment story.

Last night Danya made my absolute favorite meal for supper! I could smell it as soon as I opened the door. I was so happy to go up to the kitchen to see what was cooking.

As I walked up, I could see the pizza pan and the ingredients on the island. There were green pepper, pepperoni, onions, salami, hamburger, cheese and ham. I was so excited watching her get it all together and ready for the oven. I could almost taste it. My mouth was watering as she put it into the oven.

I waited on the chair impatiently while it cooked. She told me all about her day and I told her all about mine. I could smell that beautiful aroma of rising crust. I was starving! I could hardly wait.

The buzzer went off and she took the pizza out. she cut it into 8 pieces. We set the table and then we sat down to eat. The smell fileld the air as she put the pizza onto the plate. I sunk my teeth into the first bite. It was absolutely delicious. She had made one of the best pizzas that I had ever eaten.

You see, you don't have to have a complicated subject. You just have to tell soemthing true. If you have lived it and you can talk about it, you can write it.

Try this game after you are finished. It will remind you to remember to use your punctuation and capital letters in your writing.

https://www.abcya.com/games/fun-factory-punctuation-capitalization

For Math, continue to work through your pages. Today, perhaps you could pick the skip counting pages. Here is a video to help when skip counting by 25.

and 10 from random numbers:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBtYTrQXKFI

I hope that you have a good day and that you continue to move and work that brain.

Welcome to another week!

Start by listening to the readaloud, "Couch Potato". Hopefully this isn't you today! This guy really did know what he was doing though. he was very creative. Let's begin a new week of not being couch potatoes.

If you have not picked up your new learning packet, please try and get it. They are now at the main entrance of the school and can be picked up between 8-3.

Just pace yourself and work through the pack. try to read each day and answer the questions about the reading. Practice working with words in the sight word packet. This is enough work for a week.

Here is a sight word game to try:

https://www.roomrecess.com/mobile/SightWordSmash/play.html

In math, try and complete at least 2 pages per day.
Today, try the ordering of numbers pages. Here is a video reminder:

Was it ok after you had the experience or was it as bad as you thought? You should write at least 5 good sentences.  (remember to end your sentences)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdCOswMeXFQ

               3. $4.21

               4. $6.03

               5. 54 cents

Next, tell me how much I would have if I had these coins in my pocket?

1. 3 quarters

2. 1 dime, 2 quarters, 3 pennies

3. 1 loonie, 1 quarter, 2 pennies

4. 2 toonies, 3 quarters

5. 10 dimes and 1 penny

6. 3 nickels, 3 pennies and 3 dimes

7. 4 nickels, 1 quarter, 2 toonies

8. 10 dimes

9. 20 nickels

Good morning!

Please continue to work through the packet, finishing up your unfinished work. Tomorrow there will be a learning packet to be picked up between 11-2:30 at door B (stained glass entrance). It will have your new learning pack for next week. Please brign all of your finsihed work back with you, including the reading books.

Today, please read both of your books in your packet one more time before you return them to me. You can read your books over and over to practice your fluency. Your reading should flow as if you are talking.

Also, please try and write more using your writing prompts or the opinion writing. Read it all over and see if you can add anything before you bring it back tomorrow. Remember details bring writing alive!

Try this game if you can. It is a skill to know the main idea of writing. It will also help you to write better paragraphs yourself.

https://www.roomrecess.com/mobile/MainIdea/play.html

For math, finish up anything that you have not. Focus on the subtraction of double digits. Here is a video to help and then a few to practice.

Can you figure out how many things were wacky altogether?

Next, continue to work on a VERB sheet if you have one. I am leaving some sentences here. See if you can figure out the verb in each. and after that, try this cool game. If you like gaming, you will love this one!

1. Ella read all of the books at the library!

Please work on the reading comprehension sheets that are in your pack or try the website that has the online reading comprehension below. Remember that if you find your own grade level hard to read, try the level below. Challenge yourself to better each time.

https://mrnussbaum.com/lang-arts/reading-comprehension-online

I would really like you to work on writing as much as you can.

Hangman is also a nice break. Here is an online link if you want to try.

Hangman Game (thewordsearch.com)

You should only have a few dasy work left in that packet. I will be sending home another packet on Friday. I am going to ask for this packet to be returned at the time you pick up your new one. Gather up all of your items and I can take a look.

I sure miss you guys!

There is lots of snow out there today! I hope you get a chance to get out and enjoy the day!

Start by listening to the readaloud called, "Sneezy the Snowman". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eBXQN7Iv2A

After you are finished watching, please write me a story about a snowman that you built that came alive. Remember that you need to hook your reader with your introduction, give lots of details in the body and then get it all together in the conclusion.

Here are a few videos to help along the way and get you started.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1M0pFLXegG0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGzKUdWkcAs

I cannot wait to read all of those stories when we are all back together!

I hope that you still have lots of story ideas to use in the winter writing prompts chart. You should be writing a bit each day!

If you are finished all of the reading sheets and comprehension, here is a link that you can read and complete reading comprehension online. Just choose your grade level and off you go! If you find that to be too difficult, just choose the grade level below.

https://mrnussbaum.com/lang-arts/reading-comprehension-online

Next, try to play this game about verbs.

IXL | Use action verbs | Grade 3 English language arts

https://www.ixl.com/ela/grade-4/identify-main-verbs-and-helping-verbs

In Math today, focus more on mastering subtraction. Here is a link to remind you. I am also leaving some questions fro you to try in case you have finished your sheets on subtraction.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Buyaqe_L5-Y

1. 54-29=

2. 61-37=

3. 88-23=

4. 90-36=

5. 45-23=

6. 78-29=

7. 70-37=

8. 88-19=

9. 76-23=

10. 99-34=

Next, please practice your skip counting. It is very natural for you to count up by 2 and 5. Today try backwards.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTePHopMI5U

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lra9FAqtUeE

Try even higher numbers like: Count back by 5 from 250-100, count back by 2 from 198-100, count back from 360 to 200 by 5.

I do hope that you have a good day.
